Portimao Round Race Report
KEO Racing fighting until the end for a TOP TEN finish at the last race in Portimao.
Anaes Denmark 31/10/2019 The last race of the Michelin Le Mans Cup 2019 in Portugal. was an exciting race from the beginning.
An unfortunate qualifying at Saturday force us to start the race at the end of the middle group P-20 a difficult position to start a good race at Portimao.
Nevertheless, Alain Costa did a great start pushing hard and wining valuable positions in the first corners.
He also managed to keep a good pace during the first hour.
Despite it was his first time on this circuit, it took him some laps to get comfortable with the Portuguese track. he managed to keep the car in competition during the first part of the race.
During our pit stop the crew did an excellent Job, even with another car wrongly stopped in our box and tighten the space for Alain's entrance. Fortunately, it didn't affect our stop.
After our stop Johan Jokinen set a great pace. He began to recover places and fought for the P10.
Then, a mistake within the last 15 minutes of the race relegate him again to the 13th position, even so Johan recovered the pace to finally cross the line in the P11.
Although it was a difficult race where we did not get the result we were looking for.
Everyone on the team enjoyed being able to see the checkered flag without problems. “something that had not happened since our race at Monza Italy”.
We will be testing with some drivers for next season and we are looking for some others who wish to join our project in LMP2 or LMP3. commented Kim Olsen (Team Director).
